Bernisa woke up and looked around, momentarily forgetting her destination. "L. Get up. Its nearly dawn and we havent had any food. Lionel?" Lionel was gone. She looked around, then her scream was muffled as a dirty sock covered her mouth. She smelled a sweet honey-smelling substance and she fell into a deep sleep.

She woke up with a sack over her head and in a car, going over a bumpy road. Her backpack was still on her and her hands were tied up. She remembered her pocketknife in her left back pocket, and with difficulty, took it out. She cut the rope binding her and took off the sack, putting the knife back in her pocket. She looked around the dark truck, and felt for Lionel. Bernisa heard a lound thump and saw a trunk shift just barely.

She opened the lid and almost screamed when she saw Lionel. His lip was busted and his eye was blue. "Hey Bern. Dont worry 'bout me." He looked her over. "So they didnt do anything to you huh?" She shook her head and tried to pry the ropes binding him loose. Once they were ndone, Lionel rubbed his wrists, then kissed Bernisa. "You okay L? I think we should-" he covered her mouth. "Sshh. Someones coming," he whispered. He fingered his backpack.

Good. It was still there. "Bern. When they open up this trunk, I'll let go and you kick the person." She nodded, used to his somehow sensible plans. All she wanted to do was punch their lights out. She nodded again. When the trunk opened, she prepared to kick when... "Mom?" she asked. "Kelly?" Bernisa cringed. "Kelly?" Lionel asked. "I have to go." Then Bernisa ran out of the car and into the woods, where she burst down crying. "Bern," Lionel called. "Leave me alone! I want to be alone!" she screamed.

"Listen," he said, whirling her around. "The Bern I know wouldnt be doing this. So who is this Kelly?" Slowly Bernisa explained every single dettail, from her birth to now. "So, you were born Kelly Ackell Locklean, and you were stolen? Then you met your sis and changed your name?" She nodded. "In a little bit of words, yes." She hugged him. "I dont want to leave you Lionel. I love you too much." He hugged her back. I am going to be okay, he thought. He kissed her hair and they walked to the car, but it was gone. "Just like her. Just like her." She leaned against Linel and closed her eyes. "At least we made it to your hometown L." He grunted.
