Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Finally, school ended. Next week, on this day, I would be starting basketball and track. I packed my stuff and shut my locker. I waited a few seconds wondering if the boy would show up. What was I thinking? He was in eighth grade. He just liked my story, that’s all.

I slowly walked to my bus and sat down next to the window. The bus got packed and then someone sat next to me.

“Sorry there aren’t any seats—oh its you!” a familiar voice said.

“Oh hi. You ride this bus?” I asked the guy.

“Yeah, what stop are you?” he asked.

“One,” I answered.

“That’s sucks. I’m the last stop,” he said.

I didn’t know what to say. If I said yeah then I don’t know, it would sound weird.

“What’s your name?” I asked.

“Guess,” he said.

“Ok…um…Matt?” I asked.

“Do you like a guy named Matt?” he said.

“No why?” I asked.

“Because you’re like obsessed with that name. In Skating Serena and you want my name to be Matt,” he said.

“I don’t want your name to be Matt, I was just guessing,” I said.

“Right,” he said.

I hate it when people say that.

“So what is your name?” I asked.

“Starts with a J,” he told me.

“Jake?”

“No”

“Jeremy?”

“No”

Jackson?”

“No”

“Jerry?”

“No”

“Jim? Jonathon?” I asked.

“No and no. I guess my name isn’t popular huh?” he teased.

Since none of these names worked, I tried my favorite boy name in the world.

“Josh?” I asked nervously.

“Finally!” he said.

I smiled. He smiled.

Then the bus stopping ruined the best moment.

“Oh I gotta go!” I said.

“See ya, do you have an email?” he asked.

“Yeah, I’ll give it to you tomorrow, ok?” I said exiting the bus door.

“Ok!” He called out from the window and waved.
